We went grocery shopping on Sunday, and I bought a beautiful artichoke. The gal at the register looked at J and said, "What is this?" He had to tell her what she was holding.
I need to visit CA soon. I need some fresh produce with a lot of variety, where you don't get cashiers who have never seen an artichoke before.
BTW, I had it the night after we bought it, and it was perfect.

I had no idea that there were people out there with no knowledge of artichokes! I didn't think it was an exotic vegetable!

I once bought four artichokes and mailed them overnight to my nephew in Texas. He said that it was the best birthday gift he ever received as he couldn't find artichokes in Victoria, TX. I had never seen one until I moved to CA. The absolute best were the fresh ones from the Carmel River School! Love, Mom
